This show will be held at the Lakefield District Public School gym.
Euterpe’s high calibre live performances of classical and jazz music introduce the audience to music that most of them have never heard before. The children are enriched by these experiences in many ways. At the very least, the musical seed is planted, allowing the children the benefit of having experienced such a performance.
This interactive musical experience will excite imaginations and allow for the chance to express their feelings in written words as well as in drawings and other art work while listening to the live performances. As well, the children have the chance to dance and participate with the musicians playing rhythm instruments and singing. The children are invited to express themselves by describing what instrument or instruments they liked best, what piece or pieces they enjoyed most, as well as having the chance to ask questions of the Euterpe musicians.
It is well known that exposure to classical music aids in learning on multiple levels, from reading and math to fostering self-esteem and a sense of purpose. Playing musical instruments in a group is known to foster empathy and other positive social skills. The earlier a child is exposed to these opportunities, the more enriched his or her life will be.
About the Performers
For more than 15 years, the world-class musicians of Euterpe: Music Is The Key have conducted LIVE and VIRTUAL, interactive, fun, educational performance programs for CHILDREN, principally those in underserved communities. Euterpe’s unique evidence-based education/performance programs involve children’s participation in in a variety of fun, creative ways. Scientific studies have documented that most children today are not exposed to the Western musical genres of Classical, Jazz, and related musical styles, either recorded or live. The long-term educational, artistic and health benefits of this music are well-known.
Despite this, vitally important vibrant music programs, that were once an integral part of the public-school curriculum, are no longer unavailable to the vast majority of children in our country. Learning music and participating in music-making activities is known to provide inestimable benefits to the developing brain, aiding immensely with focus, discipline, academic learning, synchrony of movement, all areas of positive social development and interaction, (including fostering self-esteem, confidence, empathy, sense of purpose, social bonding, cooperation, and more), as well as overall health and well-being throughout one’s life.
Euterpe: Music Is The Key’s life-enhancing, evidence-based music education/performance programs plant musical seeds, inspiring children of diverse cultural backgrounds to want to hear more of this music, to play a musical instrument and to become involved in music-making activities, such as singing in a choir or playing in a band or orchestra. When children are involved with this music early on, they become much better equipped in life.
